7 Self Love Practices for Everyday - Happy Valentines Day!

13-Feb-2016

  1. Take a hot bath

We all know how much a hot bath makes us feel calm, relaxed and totally at ease in our bodies. Warm water relaxes our muscles and naturally puts us in a better mood by easing tension. It’s a way to get naked and sensual – by feeling the hot water bathe us in warm, loving bliss. Take the blissfulness factor up a notch by throwing into the bath a sensual blend of Epsom salts and essential oils. Lavender, ylang ylang and jasmine are all soothing and sexy scents. Pour 1-2 cups of Epsom salts in your bath with several drops of your favorite sensual essential oil. Because some of us are sensitive to these oils – especially when they mix with hot water -  you may want to combine them with coconut oil first, and then add the mixture to your steaming tub.

  1. Buy yourself a bouquet of fresh flowers

There’s almost nothing like having a gorgeous bouquet of flowers around the house to feast your eyes upon. Bringing nature into the home helps us feel more peaceful, calm and abundant. Surrounding ourselves with flowers helps us connect to the beauty within ourselves and the beauty without.

  1. Dance for yourself!

Turn on your favorite tunes and dance! Moving the body increases our pleasure centers – we don’t need a date to feel happy! If you wish, dance in front of a mirror. See how beautiful your body is as it moves to music. Get your heart rate up and sweat a bit. Let your hair down. Be wild. You’ll be so glad you did.

  1. Pamper yourself at home

Give yourself a foot soak, a manicure/pedicure, a self-massage – whatever helps you feel relaxed and beautiful. Perhaps you make a facial mask while resting in your favorite restorative yoga pose. Maybe you make an exfoliating body scrub from sea salts and coconut oil – the possibilities here are endless. Heck, you could dedicate the entire day to rituals of self-love. Enjoy this precious time to be with the beautiful and utterly unique person that is you!

  1. Cook a lovely meal

Cooking a warm, nourishing meal is one of the most pleasurable rituals in the world. Light some candles, put on some music, have a glass of wine. Slow down and create a meal for yourself you might not cook otherwise.

  1. Watch your favorite feel-good film

Treat yourself to a big glass of coconut water or kombucha and pop a large bowl of popcorn. Add some sea salt, coconut oil and nutritional yeast and settle in for the evening. Maybe it’s Eat Pray Love or Under the Tuscan Sun. Ease into the simple pleasure that is sitting on the couch with your favorite treats and your favorite flick.

  1. Meditate on self-love

There’s really nothing better than quieting the mind, with all its judgments - and dropping into your heart. Breathe, relax and get in touch with all the ways you ARE love. The deepest and truest love is always with you, whether you’re out on a date this V-day or not. Cultivate that and all the rest is gravy, baby!
